Dawn French (MAFHP, MCFHP)
With a background in Information Technology, the decision to train and pursue a career in foot health is unusual, but my interest in foot health together with the desire to do something different yet worthwhile and satisfying led me in this direction. I have a diploma in Foot Health and I am a member of the College of Foot Health Professionals (MCFHP) and a Member of the Association of Foot Health Professionals (MAFHP).
My job is to keep people’s feet healthy and giving advice on day to day foot care to ensure that the feet are well kept into old age. As people are living longer these days, more care is required to keep them healthy and comfortable.
The conditions that I treat include corns, callus, verrucae, cracked heels and fungal infections. I also carefully trim nails and prevent problems developing. This includes thickened and ingrown nails. Each treatment session starts with a foot health assessment to determine any existing risk factors, and ends with a relaxing foot massage with a foot moisturiser. Also, I will trim and file fingernails for a small additional cost if required.
I practice effective infection control and aseptic techniques, and an individual sterilized pack of instruments is used for each client. I am a member of the British Association of Foot Health Professionals and this provides me with professional indemnity insurance cover to the sum of £5 million.
Outside of work, I enjoy swimming (in the sea during summer months) and pilates, however, most of my spare time is spent exercising my close companion and very active dog, Barney.
